Just outside the borders of London lies an English county packed with urban amenities and laid-back village vibes. Wow Hydrate’s Queenie Porter reveals her favourite places to spend her free time in Essex.

Just outside the borders of London lies an English county full of urban amenities and a relaxed village atmosphere.

Situated in the south-east of England on the North Sea, Essex is home to Queenie Porter, CEO of sports drink company Wow Hydrate.

The company, which works with famous sports names such as Manchester United and Tyson Fury, also has its headquarters in the region.

“You have the best of everything,” Porter said in an episode of CNBC’s new travel series, Downtime London. “You can go to a city, like Chelmsford, or you can go to a lesser-known city like Brentwood or you can be in a rural village.”

When Porter is not busy running a business and holding various board positions, she enjoys spending her spare time in Essex.

She revealed her four favorite spots, including:

  • Essex Fight Academy, a down-to-earth boxing school where you receive training from a boxing professional
  • The Dog & Pickle, an independent gastropub with a roast dinner so popular you might have to join a waiting list to try it
  • The Ginger Tree, a cozy flower shop where you can pick a beautiful bouquet that is bigger than your head
  • Muse Medispa, a luxury spa where you can try their signature facial treatment, complete with a relaxing head massage

Watch the video above for a behind-the-scenes look at how to make the most of your free time in Essex.
