James was picked up by the Los Angeles Lakers during the second round of the draft on Thursday, where he will be on the court with father LeBron James next season.
It is the first time that a father and son play on the same team at the same time.
The first round of the NBA Draft came and went Wednesday night without Bronny James being called upon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Lakers were selected at No. 55.
Bronny James' limited basketball resume includes one season at the University of Southern California, where he averaged 4.8 points per game in 25 games, most of which came off the bench.
His short college career began late after he had a cardiac arrest and collapsed during a practice at USC last July 24. He was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that could be treated, his family said, and James was cleared to play again.
However, the heartbreak brought James back, and he only played Southern Cal's Ninth Game of the season.
LeBron James has until Saturday to decide whether he wants to stay with the Lakers, where he has played since 2018-19.
The NBA's All-Time Leading Scorer has long spoken openly about playing alongside his son, although he has recently been doing so downplayed that generation goal.
While NBA fans have seen it several father-son duos over the years, especially the snipers Dell and Steph Curryno one has been on the floor at the same time.
At the ripe old basketball age of 39, Lebron James remarkably remains one of the game's most dynamic players.
In recent years, he's even developed into a legitimate three-point shooting threat, converting 41% last season. That topped the league average of 36.6% and even better than Curry's 40.8% efficiency in the city center.
