Former 'American Idol' star Mandisa was found dead in her Tennessee home this week.

Mandisa's father confirmed the death of the “American Idol” alum and Grammy winner in a statement Friday morning.

According to the late gospel singer's father, Mandisa – whose full name was Mandisa Hundley – was found dead in her Nashville home on Thursday. Her cause of death is currently unknown.

David Piercewho serves as chief media officer at popular Christian radio station K-Love, further confirmed Mandisa's devastating death in a statement released Friday morning.

“Her kindness was epic, her smile electric, her voice massive, but it was no match for the size of her heart,” Pierce said. “Mandisa was going through a hard time, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our own struggles.”

“Mandisa's struggles are over,” he continued. “She is now with the God she sang about. While we grieve, Mandisa is home. We pray for Mandisa's family and friends and ask that you join us.”

Mandisa's cause of death is currently unknown.

If RadarOnline.com noted earlier, Mandisa was perhaps best known for landing in the Top 10 when she appeared in season 5 American Idol in 2006. She came ninth.

Mandisa mentioned both Whitney Houston And certainly Leppard as some of her major musical influences during her time American Idol.

She also reportedly studied vocal jazz at American River College in Sacramento, California and later went on to study music at Fisk University in Nashville.

The gospel singer's debut album, True beautywas released in 2007. Her fifth album, Victoriouswas released in 2013 and won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album a year later in 2014.

Mandisa placed ninth on season 5 of “American Idol” and won a Grammy in 2014.

Mandisa's last album was called Out of the dark. It was released in 2017.

The California native made headlines during her performance American Idol almost 20 years ago after a difficult and tense interaction with the judge Simon Cowell.

Cowell made several distasteful comments about Mandisa's weight at the time, and he later apologized after the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance and Mandisa confronted him about the cruel comments.

“What I want to say to you is that you hurt me and I cried and it was painful, it really was,” she told Cowell shortly before she was appointed official. American Idol semi-finalist. “But I want you to know that I have forgiven you and you don't need someone to apologize to forgive someone.”

“I think if Jesus could die so that all my mistakes could be forgiven, then I can certainly extend that same grace to you too,” she added.
