10 Best US Cities to Live in by Culture, Education and More

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) published its annual Global Livability Index 2024that assesses cities worldwide on their quality of life.

The EIU report examines 173 cities worldwide based on 30 indicators, divided into five different categories:

  • Stability
  • healthcare
  • Culture and environment
  • Education and infrastructure

The cities were then ranked on a 100-point scale. For the third year in a row, Vienna, Austria, was ranked as the world's best city to live. On the other side of the world, no US city was in the top 20 best places to live.

The report shows that there is a trend in the US this year for smaller cities to outperform larger metropolitan areas.

Two of the most popular cities in America, New York and Los Angeles, were not in the top 10, ranking 70th and 58th respectively.
